In 2023, Gren, owned by Partners Group, a Swiss global private markets investment manager, acquired a portfolio of district heating companies. These companies operate biomass boiler plants in the Akmenė and Trakai districts, as well as independent heat producers in Vilnius and Visaginas. Together, they supply approximately 204 GWh of heat energy per year, with a total production capacity of 112 MW and employing 91 staff members.
Since 2001, E energija has been managing these district heating operators and independent heat producers. We have overseen the reconstruction of existing district heating infrastructure, the construction of new biomass boiler houses, and the establishment of client service systems for end-users. This long-term management and development have significantly contributed to the efficiency and sustainability of the heating services provided.
